That is what happened this weekend where the weather was amazing a little overcast but of course we look at differently than most people…for the pics it was perfect…..

NIKON WORLD SUMMER ISSUE OUT…We got the cover!!!

Recently the 2011 summer edition of NIKON WORLD arrived at our CHERIEFOTO STUDIO door AND TO OUR SURPRISE THERE ON THE COVER WAS ONE OF OUR IMAGES… IT’s one of our favorite images shot downtown Los Angeles’ Union Station with the NIKON D700 and the new NIKON 24-120 Zoom Lens….this shot was also one of many images we made for the brochure for the then New Nikon D700, which we shot and helped produce for Nikon before the D700 was first released….

Way back when I got my first 35 mm camera, it was A Nikon F film camera, one of my dreams was to get an image on the pages of Nikon World…The quarterly publication produced by Nikon USA and available by subscription.

Well in the current issue of Nikon World magazine, Cherie and I have 10 images…we are so excited…

NIKON WORLD was one of many photographic publications that we sent our images to across the USA and Canada. and we currently also have an ad Advertorial with Nikon USA which is in the new issue of RANGEFINDER magazine.

Everyday we are so excited to do what we do at Cheriefoto because we are relentless in our pursuit of making compelling and award
winning images… so we are always coming up with new ideas and finding new ways to execute them, so we rent gear
that we don’t have, to try out to help keep us tuned at the top of our game.

We know that marketing may be the most important part of our business but Cherie and I are big on technique so we experiment a lot with different lights and lenses to add to our basic kit which consist of Nikon D3, D700 and D7000 bodies and a stack of Nikon speed lights….On these bodies we can fit just about every Nikon lens ever made, we have the basic Nikon zooms but lately we have been shooting with all the new fast prime lenses that Nikon has been releasing : 24mm f1.4, 35mm f1.4, 50mm f1.4, 85mm 1.4, even though we have several zooms that cover that range.

These fast lenses along with the Nikon D3, D3S and D700 can shoot in extreme low light at ISO 6400 and get exceptional results with very little noise with the images we capture…. and I find myself shooting at ISO 1600 regularly, like the way we used to shoot Tri-X film, except with much better control over the exposure.

These tools are helping us push the boundaries of photography and helps us to create images that were never before possible….thank you Nikon!

SOME NEW WORK AND IDEAS….

So we have been busy for the past 2 months on so many projects it is really hard to keep up…A lot of boudoir (things we cannot post…hahah) and so many different kinds of projects….it is really a fabulous trip……From celebrities to private girls school graduation…to speaking for lots of photographers, travel…and on and on…

Here are a few images….of a shoot we did recently for a company called Zen Arts…a fabulous performance company that travels worldwide to perform all their many talented performers from belly dancers to burlesque to fire dancers and on and on….Here we find the amazing Tali….Burlesque queen…..This particular shoot was really a dream come true for any photographer…!!!

LOOKING AT THE WEDDINGS PAST……..

Every once in a while we have to look back into images to find something for someone. My day started like that looking at a past wedding for a client through all the Los Angeles Weddings that we have done. We had to go back far. So as I was doing that I came across images that really never made it anywhere so I decided to past a few for some inspiration for weddings to come and Brides planning their wedding now. AN AMAZING PERSIAN JEWISH WEDDING

We had the total privilege and honor to shoot a Persian Jewish Wedding in Los Angeles at the Universal Sheraton last weekend and all I can say is that it was one of the highlights of my 2010 weddings. This year was really a year of some of the most cherished weddings we have shot in our career, mostly because we now seem to be shooting friends weddings or friends of friends now that we are established in the LA area and that is always amazing with such a warm feeling. We are so much apart of the wedding day. Our clients were not friends before the wedding but are now. To say that this wedding was fun and great to shoot would be really not explaining the depth of this day. The custom of the Jewish traditions, the Persian flavor and customs, the music the joy, the fun. It was a love fest and photo extravaganza. I could not shoot fast enough. There was a moment every moment from the beautiful Bride in her gown from Penache of Beverly Hills, her Badgley Mishka shoes to her gorgeous sister and 6 maids to the groom and his boys and their willingness to help make the pictures worth a 1000 words! The groom had a custom made suit from Requisite Clothing. Now we have to talk about the dancing and the music. Music and band by Pedram Music and to say this was a band and not elaborate would be a crime. I love music and all I can say is that Hedley and I were the last ones on the dance floor and that was after shooting for 12 hours. Do I have to say anything more? The Persians partied till 2 and everyone left at 3. I have been told if you go home before 3 at a Persian party it was not a good party so this was a great party. FUNG & ERIC WEDDING @ PACIFIC PALMS RESORT

Fung and Eric married now a couple of months ago at the Pacific Palms resort was such a cool affair…
Loved Fung’s color coordination and the flowers, and details were fabulous…. We had a lot of fun with the Bridal party…..

NAPA VALLEY V.SATTUI WEDDING

We are back from the holiday, from Burning Man from out of town and from our Social Media break due to travel and work. So we have so many things to post and tell you about so here is our first post in a long time. Our friends Holly and Steve got married last month at one of the most amazing Vineyards rated #1 in the Napa valley the V. Sattui Winery and believe me I can for sure tell you why they are # 1.This wedding was not only so beautiful and charming but so special to us since we have been friends with the Bride for many years. The trip up north, the wedding and the family, the details and the love was just the way a wedding should be. After the wedding on that Tuesday we also got to go out and play with these two in San Francisco and that was another day of love and fun fun fun shooting at San Francisco City Hall an OMG building, the Legion of Honor near Baker Beach and the Golden Gate Bridge. Holly had a plan for us (if you knew Holly she has the best plans and taste) so we just went along with her program and it worked out perfectly. So to Holly and Steve on their Napa Valley wedding and the San Francisco Trash the Dress shoot. It could not have been more fun for us!! Some images….
